Missing Persons list includes mostly children

July 16, 2003 By admin

Most of the names on the list of Iowa “missing persons” are kids. Wendy Nerem of the Iowa Missing Person Clearinghouse says there are about 340 missing persons on file, and about 250 are juveniles. Most are run-aways.Nerem says they receive the largest number of missing persons reports in the fall and spring, and she attributes that to kids rebelling against restrictions. Nerem says in the fall, kids rebel against homework and school hours, while in the spring runaways get “spring fever” and don’t want to be tied down. Nerem has been managing the Iowa Missing Person Clearinghouse since 1985.
