Officials in a central Iowa town have decided against promoting character education. As part of the Character Counts program, signs were posted in seven city-owned parks in Nevada depicting a rainbow. Each color of the rainbow represents an aspect of good character, like fairness, responsibility or citizenship. Still, someone decided to complain to city hall, saying rainbows are used by gay rights groups to promote homosexuality and what the protector said is immorality and a mockery of the word character. Instead of arguing about it, the leaders of Nevada’s Character Counts program chose to have all of the signs removed until they come up with a different symbol.
