More schools look to fields just for soccer

July 21, 2003 By admin

As the sport of soccer grows at the college level more and more schools are building facilities to accommodate the programs. One of the latest is Dordt College in Sioux Center which is constructing a field to be used by its mens’ and womens’ program.Dordt College athletic director Rick Vanderberg says the soccer field is going to be turned into a parking lot, so they needed a new field. He says soccer only fields are needed because few football stadiums can accommodate the dimensions, which aren’t wide enough or long enough. Vanderberg says the facility should be ready for the 2004 season.
