Fairfax man charged with murder in death of girlfriend’s daughter

July 23, 2003 By admin

A Fairfax man is charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend’s young daughter. 26-year-old Charles Goddard was arrested by Cedar Rapids police late Tuesday in connection with the death of three-year-old Kayla Blahnik. The arrest stems from an investigation that began on February 19th when authorities were called to the apartment Goddard shared with his girlfriend and Blahnik’s mother, Courtney Hartley. Blahnik was taken from the apartment by ambulance that day and died five days later from a head injury.
