Girl drowns in Hampton pool

A young girl apparently drowned last night in northern Iowa. Rescue units were called to a home in Hampton at 8:45 last night, where they treated and transported a two-year-old female who had fallen into a swimming pool. Attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful and the child was pronounced dead at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton at 9:18 P.M. The child’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives. The Hampton Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.
