Vandals are now suspected of intentionally starting a library fire in northwest Iowa. The State Fire Marshal says arson is the cause of an early morning fire that damaged the Sioux Center Public Library Wednesday. Firefighters were called to the library about 4 o’clock yesterday morning. By the time they arrived, flames were coming through the roof. They say the building will likely be declared a total loss. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is continuing. Library officials say most of the books will probably be saved and genealogical records in the basement weren’t damaged. In the mean time city officials are looking for a place in town big enough to be used as a temporary library.
