Jesup continues to be stingy on defense

July 26, 2003 By admin

Jesup looks to continue its stifling defensive play and earn a state tournament berth in the process when the J-Hawks take on MFL MarMac in a class 2A substate game in Cedar Falls. In three tournament games to date, Jesup has not allowed a run, and in their district title win over Denver, Adam Kehoe fired a no-hitter. Coach Bruce Wall will send August McIntosh to the mound tonight. Wall says he has two, strong pitchers, but you don’t go 21 scoreless innings without good defense behind them. Wall says his team has not been bothered by tournament pressure. He says every one of the starters played, in some form or another, in MFL’s appearance in the state tournament two years ago.
