A pair of former major leaguers were in Waterloo over the weekend helping out with an international youth baseball tournament. The tournament featured 10-to-12 year old teams from Waterloo and the Dominican Republic. Mike Easler was part of the Pittsburgh Pirate World Championship team in 1979. He says the local youth can learn a lot from watching the kids from the Dominican teams with the energy, love and compassion for the game that they have. Larry Hisle spent 13-seasons in the majors with Minnesota, Milwaukee and Toronto. He is impressed with how the game is being taught to kids. The tournament wrapped up on Sunday.
