Leon woman dead

July 30, 2003 By admin

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today on the body of a southern Iowa woman who was found dead in her home on Tuesday. Authorities say 42-year-old Melody Sue Jeffrey didn’t answer the door of her Leon home when someone stopped to give her a ride to work at an elder care facility and her father was notified. Joe Jeffrey found his daughter’s body beside her bed. The Decatur County Sheriff has -not- yet said if the death is a homicide, pending autopsy results. Jeffrey was deaf and usually left her doors unlocked as she couldn’t hear the doorbell. Investigators say a window in the home had been shattered and agents removed a large door from its frame as evidence.
