Economic development officials from around Iowa are chomping at the bit to get a portion of the roughly 60-million dollars that’s left in the state fund for distribution over the next two years. Siouxland Chamber of Commerce president Debi Durham — the Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 2002 — says prospects are hot. Durham says “we are seeing some very good projects break loose, not only on local expansions but people who are shopping deals that are very real at this time.” Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce president Ron Corbett agrees. Corbett says every community has some deals on the table now that are going to be on the fast track now that the Iowa Values Fund is in place.
