Minnesota meat recalled

August 8, 2003 By admin

Some meat sold in Iowa and elsewhere is being recalled. A farmer-owned packing company in southwestern Minnesota, Pipestone’s Ellison Meats, is recalling 195-thousand pounds of frozen ground-beef products that may contain e-coli bacteria. The company’s Alan Sheldon. Sheldon says “We are recalling it because there were two individuals in Colorado thatwere diagnosed with e-coli. Our product was consumed by both individuals, and they are now recuperating.” The meat was sold to supermarkets and door-to-door. The Howard Beef co-op and Ellison Meats packing plant are owned by about 80 hog farmers in southwestern Minnesota, northwest Iowa and South Dakota.
