Nurse’s Aid Charged in Second Murder

August 15, 2003 By admin

Murder charges have been filed in the death of a nursing-home patient in Sioux County. The Sioux County sheriff’s filing new murder charges against Christine Van Oort without help from the County attorney. Van Oort’s already set to stand trial next month in the death of an elderly man at a nursing home in Rock Valley in April 2002. Sheriff Jim Schweisow’s filed another first-degree murder charge, accusing Van Oort of putting a pillow over the face of Rolena VandeVekte, cutting off her air till she died. Van Oort remains in custody on 100-thousand dollars bond. Sioux County Attorney Melissa O’Rourke says she hasn’t seen the complaint and affidavit filed by sheriff Schweisow last week.
