State and transportation officials cut a ribbon today in front of about one thousand people to another section of widened Highway 20. The D-O-T’s Dena Grey-Fisher says they were glad to see the culmination of plans for Highway 20 across north-central Iowa. As of 2:00 the roadway’s open, four lanes from Fort Dodge to Dubuque. Governor Vilsack and top transportation-department officials were on hand for the cutting of the ribbon that signaled completion of the last stretch between those end points. Grey-Fisher says while this stretch is now continuous, there are expectations that in time the highway will reach from Dubuque all the way to the western border of the state. There’s 95 miles to go, and it’ll take a “significant” financial investment.
