The temperature dropped Friday and the scores followed suit during the opening day of the Allianz Championship in West Des Moines. The scores were low from the outset. Jim Holtgrieve was part of the first group to tee off. He was as low as five under but finished with a 4 under 67. He says he played well on the front nine and then got hot on the turn before mistakes late. Holtgrieve says all the conditions led to low scores and feels that will continue. Rex Caldwell finished at three under par and said the weather conditions were favorable as he teed off early.David Eger had the round of the day going, standing seven under after 17, but a bad approach shot led to a double bogey on 18 and he finished five under par. He says he slightly miss-hit the ball. Eger says it was a good start to the weekend.
