Authorities in north-central Iowa are still trying to sort out what happened in a riot at a Clear Lake bar early this morning. Clear Lake police were called to Lu’s Lounge shortly before 1:30 this morning where they found between 60-to-80 people involved in a large disturbance. Riot conditions broke out between two groups of people attending the Lounge’s weekly College Night promotion. The groups spilled out into the street and the parking lot where officers were able to keep them apart by using large amounts of pepper spray. Several cars received damage and had windows broken out as people were throwing beer bottles in the parking lot. One officer received a minor injury when hit by a club thrown at him. Officers observed some other injuries in the crowd however the subjects left to seek their own medical attention. No charges have been filed at this time, but the incident remains under investigation.
