The 51st meeting between Iowa and Iowa State is tomorrow in Jack Trice Stadium and the Cyclones will be looking extend their winning streak in the series to six. Iowa State coach Dan McCarney says the Cyclone offense will need to keep the Iowa defense off balance to move the ball. He says they know the yards aren’t going easy, and they’re going to have to pass protect too.On the other side of the ball McCarney is concerned about the Hawkeye ground attack led by Fred Russell. He says Russell is as good a back as they’ll see all year long, and is “a big play waiting to happen.” McCarney says pressuring Nathan Chandler will be another key, as he says Chandler is real strong and has been able to get away or throw the ball in the grasp of defenders. Iowa will be looking for its first win in the series since 1997 and coach Kirk Ferentz says both teams will be ready. He says the environment will be outstanding, guaranteed.Ferentz says the hype surrounding this game is fun but it comes down to execution. He says his team needs to play well in its first road game against a good football team. Iowa is a slight favorite but Ferentz says the Hawkeyes don’t feel like one. He says they haven’t proven anything yet this season and haven’t had much success against ISU.
