The Iowa Hawkeyes will be without leading receiver Maurice Brown for at least the next three games. Brown injured an ankle catching a touchdown pass in Iowa’s 40-21 win over Iowa State on Saturday. The Hawkeyes return to action Saturday at home when they host 16th ranked Arizona State. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says that’s part of football and they have some playmakers out. He says they’re not going to cry about it, they’re going to try to develop an intelligent plan and practice hard.Defense and special teams have shined early in the season and Ferentz says that will need to continue. He says they’re probably a top ten team when it comes to special teams, a top 20 team when it comes to defense, and a team that’s trying to improve on offense. He says losing Brown makes it tougher to improve. The offense has been efficient and quarterback Nathan Chandler has not thrown an interception. Ferentz says Chandler’s command of the game is excellent and he’s making good decisions. He says the one thing they’ve discovered is that Chandler’s a good runner, after he scrambled well against ISU.
