Iowa looks ahead without top receiver

September 17, 2003 By admin

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says he hopes leading receiver Mo Brown will be able to return for the Hawkeyes October 18th matchup with Ohio State. Brown injured an ankle while catching a touchdown pass in Saturday’s win over Iowa State and will not play in the Hawks game with 16th ranked Arizona State on Saturday. He says it’s a big concern, as they were concerned coming in whether they could get the offense going.Ferentz says they will need to find a way to replace Brown in the offense. He says it won’t be one guy, it’s a team thing. The defense was expected to be the strength early in the season but Ferentz says with Brown out the defense should not feel added pressure. He says their objective is the same as every other week, play the best they can play. Ferentz says if they play well, the special teams play well, they should be able to have success.
