Alabama judge talks about Ten Commandments fight on Iowa visit

September 22, 2003 By admin

The Alabama judge who sparked furor over a stone monument spoke in Des Moines over the weekend. Judge Roy Moore was keynote speaker at the Iowa Christian Coalition’s “Friends of the Family” awards banquet. He’s been at the center of the legal battle after he had a monument of the Ten Commandments placed in the Alabama judicial building and last month, was suspended for refusing to follow a court order to remove it. Moore told the Iowans he’s trying to get the nation to quit denying God and to acknowledge the nation was founded on beliefs outlined in the Commandments.
