Crossing guard hit by teen driver in Davenport

September 24, 2003 By admin

An elderly man who volunteered to help school children safely cross the street was hurt this morning in a marked crosswalk. Seventy-eight-year-old James Sisco was knocked to the pavement and run over by a car driven by a 15-year-old boy from Davenport. The teenager, Joschua Davis, was not hurt. Police ticketed him for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The kid was making a right turn — on red — when he struck the crossing guard. Records indicate the teen had a permit to drive to school. Because of the accident, the student will lose the right to drive for up to a year.
