Officers from Iowa and surrounding area attend slain Omaha comrad’s funeral

September 24, 2003 By admin

An emotional eulogy Tuesday at the funeral of an Omaha police officer. The brother of police Sergeant Jason Pratt is a cop himself, in Lincoln, and told of being at the bedside of his brother during the two weeks after he was shot in the head by a suspect.Jason Pratt was shot on September 11 and died last Friday. Lincoln police officer Michael Pratt talked after the service about the risks of choosing the profession he and his brother shared. He noted the number of cops there, saying it could have happened to any of them a dozen times and it’s both a reminder of how precious life is and how folks support them. An estimated 6,000 people including many law-enforcement officers from Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Colorado attended the funeral of the officer, the first cop shot in Omaha since 1995.
