Ottumwa telemarketing company hangs up on 147 workers

September 24, 2003 By admin

Most employees at a southcentral Iowa telemarketing firm will be making calls soon, looking for a new job. APAC Telemarketing company officials say they’ll close much of its Ottumwa operation in November, putting 147 employees out of work. Workers were notified of the layoffs on Monday. A company spokeswoman says APAC will keep Ottumwa employees who are working with the insurance industry. The rest will be let go. She says it’s a matter of making the company more efficient.
