Iowa State was competitive early but the Cyclones eventually wilted under the constant pressure of Oklahoma as the top-ranked Sooners cruised to a 53-7 win in Ames. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says with the Cyclone offense unable to generate any drives the defense spent too much time on the field. He says they’ll get this one behind them just as fast as they can. He says they fought hard, but were outmanned. The Cyclones trailed 9-0 with just under five minutes to go in the first half when receiver Jack Whitver fumbled and the Sooners scored on the next play. He says he was trying to make a big play. Whitver and the Cyclones will try to bounce back this weekend with a visit to Texas Tech. He says they’re frustrated, but he says you learn in football you have to put things behind you and move on.
