October 6, 2003 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeyes get a well deserved week off after a thrilling 30-27 victory over 11th-rated Michigan. The Hawkeyes were outgained and fell behind 14-0 early before rallying to improve to 5-1 on the season.Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says their specials teams were “fantastic” and he says the special teams great too and the offense made big plays when it had to. He says Hawkeyes found a way to win and that’s what it will take to be successful. He says they’re not a top ten team and have to scratch and claw for anything they get. He says he’s confident his team will show up and play hard in each of the last six games. The Hawks have next weekend off before visiting Ohio State and Ferentz says the off-week comes at a good time and they may be able to get some guys healed up.Iowa defensive tackle Jared Clauss expects close, hard-fought games nearly every week during the conference race. That game will match the co-champions from last year’s Big Ten race. Clauss says they’re exciting about meeting the Buckeyes.
