High School football showdown set for Cedar Rapids

October 9, 2003 By admin

The high school football weekend gets an early start tonight with a rated matchup in class 4A as top rated Cedar Rapids Washington plays number five Cedar Rapids Xavier. Washington was rated highly in the preseason polls, but Xavier was not given such lofty expectations. Xavier has gone to 5-0 with a stifling defense that gives up about five points a game. Washington puts up about 37 points a game, so something has to give. The winner takes over sole possession of the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division, and all but assures them a playoff spot.
