A 21-year-old mechanical engineering student at Iowa State University will appear in Cosmopolitan magazine next week as one of America’s most-eligible hunks. He’s labeled one of the nation’s hottest bachelors, but Matt Hinders of Ames says he doesn’t want to be a model — he hopes to combine his education with a love of sports and design all-terrain vehicles and Jet Skis. Hinders says he did the topless photo shoot showing off his six-pack abs for the heck of it and never expected to be chosen for the magazine to represent the best Iowa has to offer. In the feature, each of Cosmo’s sexy guys reveals his romantic desires, secret fantasies, girlfriend requirements, and dating no-nos. Hinders says he’s currently unattached, as he’s very busy with his studies at I-S-U and with a strict five-day-a-week workout regimen. Also, he says he doesn’t smoke or drink. Cosmo is setting up an e-mail account for Hinders so readers can send him messages. Hinders says he’s made a ten-dollar bet with a buddy that he’ll get no more than ten e-mail messages, saying no one’s going to notice. The magazine has a circulation of nearly three-million. A few years ago, 25-year-old Cedar Rapids native Ashton Kutcher left the University of Iowa for a modeling career that propelled him into T-V and film stardom. Hinders says “I won’t dare compare myself to (Kutcher)…this is just one little deal.”
