Even with Iowa’s warm weekend weather, it’s not long now until winter arrives. Rose White, spokeswoman for Triple-A Motor Club, is reminding Iowans to get their vehicles prepared for the winter season ahead. White says the motor club responded to more than 95-thousand emergency roadside assistance calls nationwide last year. She says inspection of cars now could be the best way to prevent break-downs due to a lack of maintenance. White says a safety check now, before foul weather arrives, could save a lot of hassle later, like when you’re stuck in a snow drift. She recommends motorists have a professional check things like: belts, hoses, tires, fluid levels, wipers, lights and turn signals. The motor club also recommends putting an emergency kit in your trunk along with other items like blankets, a shovel and sand for traction.
