Clinton company plans to cut 28 jobs

October 20, 2003 By admin

An eastern Iowa factory plans to trim more than two-dozen jobs by year’s end. Rich Phelan is a spokesman for Equistar in Clinton.Phelan says 28 jobs will be eliminated and consolidated after many recent changes in maintenance and efficiencies. He says opportunities exist for those affected employees. He says they can transfer to other sites, or he says most will get a severance package and he says many will probably retire. Equistar now employs about 400 people at the Clinton plant, which makes polyethylene resins used in a variety of products from milk containers to toys.
