The Iowa State women’s basketball team is looking to bounce back from a disappointing season and two former Iowa high school standouts will play a major role. Former Cedar Rapids Kennedy standout Ann O’Neil began her college career at Illinois and hopes to get the Cyclones back to the top of the Big-12 and back into the N-C-A-A Tournament. O’Neil says the Cyclones have a lot of confidence. She says it’s not something that ever left the program, as they have great fans and tradition behind them. O’Neil expects the Cyclones to be a balanced team. She says there will be a different role for everyone based on the games.Former St. Ansgar standout Lisa Kriener was the Cyclones top inside scoring threat a year ago. She says having a year of experience is a big plus, as she knows Fenelly’s system better and knows how to play the other teams. Kriener feels good about the upcoming season, and is excited to get playing again.I-S-U opens November 23rd at Cleveland State.
