The subjects of Halloween and American history provide the setting for this weekend’s “Haunted White House” shows at the Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch. Library director Tim Walch says the performances will highlight some of the spooky phenomena that have been reported around America’s most famous house. There are many ghost stories about the White House over the years revolving around several Presidents, including Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, John Adams and others. Walch says the shows are entertaining while teaching a little history with some whiz-bang and spine-tingling special effects.He says fireballs and fog machines will help educate and thrill audiences at the home of the only American president who was born in Iowa. The free shows run today (Saturday), tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday at 6 and 7 P.M. with matinee third show on Sunday at 3 P.M.
