Panthers set themselves up to run the controls

October 29, 2003 By admin

With three games remaining the Northern Iowa Panthers control their own destiny in the Gateway Conference race. U-N-I is coming off a 38-30 victory at Western Illinois but coach Mark Farley says his team cannot afford a letdown on Saturday when they host Youngstown State. Farley says mathematically Youngstown can still win the conference and are backed against the wall, which he says makes them dangerous. Youngstown is 5-4 overall, 2-2 in the league race. Farley says you go there and see four national championship flags flying and UNI doesn’t have any. Farley says you have to respect their past and tradition. The Panthers are 7-1 overall and Farley says the goals of winning a league title and playing in the post-season are right in front of them. He says they’ve created the opportunity and now they have to take advantage.
