A former Ossian farm worker convicted of shooting the daughter of his boss and setting a fire has had his prison sentence cut nearly in half. Dana White was convicted in 1999 of two counts of attempted murder, two counts of willful injury, assault, reckless use of fire and unauthorized use or possession of an offensive weapon. White was employed at the Wenthold Dairy Farm near Ossian when he shot 19-year-old Joy Wenthold, and then set her family’s home on fire. White was sentenced to 78 years in jail, but the Iowa Court of Appeals threw out three of the seven convictions and ordered a resentencing. The sentence was cut to 41 years.
