Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day. It’s also the day for the funeral of an Iowa National Guardsman killed in Iraq. Chief Warrant Officer Bruce Smith of West Liberty was piloting the helicopter that was shot down November 2nd and he died last week at a field hospital. Smith was 41 and leaves a wife and two children. Services are tomorrow afternoon at 1 o’clock at the West Liberty Community Center. Burial with military honors follows at West Liberty’s Oak Ridge Cemetery. Another Iowan was among the 16 Americans killed in the crash — 39-year-old Sergeant Paul Fisher of Marion. His funeral arrangements are pending. Also, 22-year-old Army Private Kurt Frosheiser of Des Moines was killed Saturday when his Humvee hit a bomb in Baghdad. Three Iowans in uniform died in Iraq last week, eight since March.
