Services are now set for a Iowa Guard member who died after helicopter crash in Iraq. 39-year-old Sergeant Paul Fisher of Cedar Rapids was a member of the 106th Aviation unit in Davenport, and was the flight engineer on a Chinook helicopter when it was shot down by a missile west of Baghdad November second. Fisher sustained multiple injuries and it was originally thought he would recover, but he died November sixth. Fisher’s funeral is Saturday at 11 A.M. at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 405 union hall in Cedar Rapids. He’ll be buried with military honors in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Fisher was born in Emmetsburg and is survived by his wife and a stepson. A memorial fund has been established at the Community Savings Banks in Robins and Cedar Rapids. The pilot of the helicopter, Bruce Smith, was laid to rest in West Liberty Tuesday in a service that drew more than 800 mourners.
