Eldora-New Providence wins in a rout

November 14, 2003 By admin

The semifinal round of the state high school football playoffs opened in the UNI-Dome this morning with a pair of games in class 1A. In the opener, second-ranked Eldora-New Providence rolled past number-eight West Branch 41-7. Brian Perry scored touchdowns on two short runs and Dustin Baum added three more. Eldora recovered an onside kick after Perry’s first touchdown win and went on to score. They led 27-0 at the half. Eldora-New Providence coach Randy Tjaden says his team is at this point because of its work ethic. He says they put in lots of hours and have given up girlfriends and other things to work.Tjaden says he has tried to make sure his players get enough rest. He says the team was over at his house last night to watch films and he kicked them out at nine o’clock.
