Tomorrow’s game will be the final one at home for the Hawkeyes and coach Kirk Ferentz wants the seniors to win their final game in Kinnick after battling a lot of adversity this year. He says the year hasn’t been, easy. He says they “haven’t had many routine ground balls,” but he says the team has continued to move forward and the seniors have taken the leadership role. Iowa is 7-3. Purdue had success running the ball against the Hawkeye defense and Ferentz says the Gophers also have a strong running game despite an offensive line which relies more on quickness than size. He says a lot of run blocking is getting to the right place and then having the proper technique. Minnesota has secured its first nine-win season since back in 1905 and Ferentz says the Gophers have a lot of momentum, and says they remind him a lot of his team last year. He says they both have a lot to play for with bowl bids and other things. Iowa State closes the home season against Colorado. The Cyclones have dropped seven straight games and stand 2-7. Colorado is 4-6 but the Buffaloes are coming off an impressive win over Missouri. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says they have quality players, including a lot of the same players that won the Big 12 North last year. McCarney says the Colorado offense has a little different style this season. He says they don’t run the ball as well as they usually do, but can throw the ball.
