Hillary Clinton draws crowd at book signing

Over a thousand people stood in a line in suburban Des Moines Sunday to get former First Lady Hillary Clinton to autograph her book, capping a weekend in which many say Clinton stole the media spotlight from the Democrats who are running for President. New York Senator Hillary Clinton walked in the bookstore flanked by Secret Service agents and book promoters, and a few waiting in the line for her autograph shouted “Run Hillary, run.” Clinton sidestepped a reporter’s question about a possible run for the White House, however, and her staff shut down the questions from the media. People started lining up a few hours before Clinton arrived at the bookstore. Mary Crees of Des Moines was in that line. Crees says Clinton has a lot of good ideas and can always think on her feet. Kerry Bowen of Windsor Heights describes herself as a “Hillary Fan.” Bowen has read much of the book, and believes Clinton would make a wonderful President. Kathy Priester of Swea City was visiting her son, and decided to wait in line to get Clinton’s autograph. She says she’s a “neat lady.”Dwight Roquet of Des Moines is a registered Democrat who believes Clinton would make a good president. Roquet says Clinton’s more qualified than any of the Democrats who are running for President right now. Eric McGarrah of Easter Lake stood in line with his son, Xavier. McGarrah says he’s an avid Bush/Cheney supporter, but his in-laws are huge Clinton fans, so he stood in line to get a book autographed for them. “I feel like I am the best son-in-law in the world,” he said. Barb Miller of West Des Moines is going to give the book Clinton signed to her mother for Christmas. Miller says she and her mother both admire “strong women” like Hillary Clinton.
