Minnesota woman held after death of her Iowa boyfriend

November 17, 2003 By admin

A Minnesota woman is being held in the shooting death of her Iowa boyfriend. The victim’s identified as 34-year-old Ervin Berg of Spirit Lake, whose body was found at a home near Jackson, Minnesota. Authorities have jailed 39-year-old Suzanne McNulty on pending murder charges, which are expected to be filed today. The Jackson County sheriff says McNulty admits holding a 12-gauge shotgun Thursday night when it went off, striking Berg in the throat. It happened at the home of a friend of McNulty. That friend returned Friday, found the body and called 9-1-1. It’s the county’s first murder since 1997 and the county attorney said -quote- “This is a sad example of the combination of anger, alcohol and guns.”
