Davis era close to start at Drake

The Tom Davis era officially begins Friday night at Drake when the Bulldogs open the regular season at home against Simpson College. Davis took over the Drake program after a four-year hiatus and is looking forward to the season. He says the most pleasing thing is the enthusiasm from everybody concerned, including the players, the community and the people at Drake.This is the first regular season game but the Bulldogs played three games in Mexico during a Labor Day weekend trip and won both of their preseason exhibitions. He says the games meant something to him as he got upset and angry if the team didn’t play well and coached as if the games counted. Davis says the Bulldogs have made progress in learning his system but he will need to be patient. He says it takes time to learn to constantly react to what’s going on.
