Waterloo man sentenced to 30 years in child endangerment case

December 4, 2003 By admin

A Waterloo man will spend the next 30 years in prison for abusing his girlfriend’s six-year-old boy. Elonzo Flores pleaded guilty to felony child endangerment charges in Black Hawk County District Court after prosecutors alleged he beat the child several times between September 2002 and June of this year. Prosecutors say investigators documented 15 burns to the boy’s chest and torso area. They believe Flores also made the child take cold showers and ice baths. Under a plea agreement, Flores was sentenced to a series of consecutive prison terms totalling 25 years on three child endangerment charges. He also received five years for an unrelated identity theft case.
