Iowan charged with gasing Wisconsin lawman

A northeast Iowa man is jailed in Wisconsin after nearly knocking out a lawman with anhydrous ammonia gas. A deputy near Prairie du Chien tried to stop a stolen vehicle Sunday leading to a chase at speeds up to 125 miles an hour. After a 22-mile chase, the suspect vehicle crashed and the suspect fled into the woods. The Crawford County (Wisconsin) Sheriff apprehended 34-year-old Dale Lucas of rural Waukon, Iowa, who apparently released the gas during a struggle, overcoming the sheriff. Lucas fled and was recaptured Monday morning. Lucas was also wanted in Fayette County, Iowa, on drug charges.
