Explosion hits Klemme Coop

December 10, 2003 By admin

No one was hurt in an explosion at a grain co-op in Klemme in Hancock County. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department received several calls around 4:45 yesterday afternoon about an explosion at the A-G-P Grain Cooperative. A-G-P manager Gary Sterling says they are still assessing the situation, but it appears there was an explosion in a grain handling leg in the southern part of the complex which has 12 large bins and several buildings. Sterling says most of the bins in the facility, which holds 2 million bushels, were full.
