The Buena Vista women’s basketball team looks to take the next step this season and win the Iowa Conference championship. A year ago, B-V finished a game behind tri-champs Loras, Simpson and Wartburg. With conference MVP Amy Meggers and three other starters back, coach Janet Berry’s team has lofty expectations. She says they’re thrilled with the way they’re playing right now and have been taking care of business and playing with a lot of confidence.Defense has been a big factor. B-V is forcing an average of 23 turnovers a game while opponents are shooting less than 36 percent from the floor. She says they changed their philosophy this year, feeling they had the athletes to crank up the pressure and go after people. Berry expects the conference race to be as balanced as last year. She says the conference is a dog fight year in and year out.Buena Vista returns to action at home Saturday against Colorado College.
