Governor Tom Vilsack — the man who claimed to have little expertise with computers earlier this year — unveiled a new state website today. It’s called www.resultsiowa.org.Vilsack says the site gives Iowans an opportunity to get reports on state government priorities and performance. He says when government does this on a regular basis, citizens can feel more secure and participate more in government. This morning during a news conference at the statehouse, Vilsack sat down behind a computer, grabbed the mouse, and surfed the website to show reporters how it works.”I know exactly what I’m doing here,” Vilsack said. Earlier this year, Vilsack claimed to have little know-how about e-mail worked. It was one of the reasons Vilsack said e-mail that had been requested by a newspaper reporter had been deleted from the public record. On another topic, the state has received the top rating from two financial agencies, allowing the state to borrow money as cheaply as possible. Vilsack says the Standard and Poors and Moody’s ratings were issued last week and will enable the state to pay its bills on time and will give the state a slight increase in revenue.
