Iowa faces Texas Tech without Indiana factor

December 22, 2003 By admin

Iowa takes on Texas Tech tonight on a neutral court in Dallas, Texas. The game features Hawkeye coach Steve Alford going up against his former college coach Bobby Knight. Alford says the hype around this game will likely be less since it doesn’t involve a connection to Indiana. He says they both were attached to Indiana, and that was a common denominator, but now that’s out of the mix.Alford says Knight is enjoying his new school, but hasn’t mellowed. He says he’s working for an administration that knows who he is and what he’s about, but is still the same intense coach. He says Tech guard Andre Emmett is going to cause problems for his defense. He says he doesn’t know of another player in the country that has the chance to be as dominant at his position as Emmett. Alford says a key for his team could be senior Glen Worley, who has been hampered by injury early in the season. He says Worley has to provide points off the bench and push the others for playing time. Iowa comes into the game tonight at 6-1, while Texas Tech is 9-2.
