The Iowa State Cyclones are now 7-0 on the season after a 68-61 win over Xavier last night in Hilton Colesium. Cyclone coach Wayne Morgan says it was a great win, and the team was “terrific.” Morgan says the game proves his team can compete against quality opponents. Morgan, during a post-game appearance on the Cyclone Network, said his team is getting a little better every day. Freshman Curtis Stinson led the way with 19 points and ten rebounds. The freshman has been effective in a number of areas. Stinson says the coach looks at him as an all-around player, and Stinson says he’ll do whatever he’s asked to do. Jackson Vroman, who had 18 points, said their matchup zone defense helped against Xavier’s three-point shooters. Vroman says Xavier got a little confused and couldn’t figure out if the Cyclones were in a zone defense, or playing man-to-man. The Cyclones return to action on New Years Eve with a game at Virginia.
