January 28, 2004 By admin

Governor Tom Vilsack’s in St. Louis this afternoon to throw his support behind Massachusetts Senator John Kerry. Vilsack’s wife endorsed Kerry a week before Iowa’s Caucuses. Vilsack says he didn’t do it at that time to ensure he didn’t “interfere” with the campaign.Vilsack says he wanted to “make sure the playing field was level” and he thinks it was. Vilsack says the participation by Iowans was significant and Iowa “put on a great show.” He says he’s proud of the way Iowans responded to the Caucus process. Vilsack’s appearing at Kerry’s side in St. Louis today because Vilsack’s family has links to Missouri politics. Vilsack’s wife, Christie, has relatives in Missouri. Her uncle was the long-time mayor of a town of 25-hundred in western Missouri. Vilsack says he believes Kerry is the best prepared to lead the nation and the democrat with the best opportunity to run a tough, aggressive campaign against George Bush.
