February could end up being warmer

February 2, 2004 By admin

If you’re counting the days till warmer weather, there’s a good chance we’re getting closer to it as we start the second month of the year. State climatologist Harry Hillaker says the odds favor a warm up.He says about half the time January is the coldest month of the year, while February is the coldest about one-fourth of the time. Hillaker says the forecast models may not hold true to the averages early in this month. He says it still looks to be colder and wetter than normal in the next week or so. Hillaker says while it will stay cold, it should thaw a little. He says we may not be quite as cold as we were in the last few days, but he says we’ll still have below normal temperatures in the next week to 10 days.
