Fire damages Carroll restaurant

February 2, 2004 By admin

Fire extensively damaged a popular Carroll restaurant on Sunday afternoon. The blaze broke out shortly after noon at Don Roy’s Boardwalk Cafe on Highway 30, and the diner’s security company called 911. Fire Chief Greg Schreck says when they arrived at the scene smoke was already coming from the kitchen and the fire quickly spread into the attic of the building, making it hard to fight. Three other area fire departments came to help fight the blaze. Captain Schreck says they haven’t yet determined what caused it, but called in the state Fire Marshall’s office because there’s a lot of costly damaged associated with this fire. Nobody was hurt, though the fire crews remained at the site Sunday and went back this morning to make sure the sparks hadn’t flared up at the site of the fire.
