Move to middle of line helps Meester shine

February 3, 2004 By admin

The move from guard to center paid off for a former UNI offensive lineman this season in the N-F-L. Brad Meester was part of a unit that helped Fred Taylor rush for more than 15-hundred yards with the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the position move, Meester was asked to be the leader of the offensive line, something he says he hadn’t done and didn’t need to do before. He says he took the role upon himself and it worked out in a positive way. Meester is one of four NFL players who played high school football at Aplington-Parkersburg. He says his high school coach Ed Thomas deserves the credit for teaching all his players about pride and hard work. Meester was named as an alternate to this year’s pro bowl.
